Power BI Consultant Cost UK: 2026 Day Rates

A useful Power BI budget separates the reporting build, platform costs and ongoing care. UK Power BI contractor day rates

IT Jobs Watch's UK Power BI contract report, checked on 25 October 2026, covers vacancies citing Power BI skills over the preceding six months. It records 1,217 quoted daily rates, with a £500 median and a £404–£600 middle half.

These are advertised contractor rates across roles requiring the skill. They do not establish a consultancy's fee, a seniority price ladder or the cost of a completed dashboard. Ask how many days the supplier has allowed, who delivers and which responsibilities the rate includes.

As a time-only illustration, an assumed £500/day gives £2,500 for five days, £5,000 for ten and £10,000 for twenty. That arithmetic does not estimate your project's duration or include software, additional fees or VAT. The agreed work determines the time and total.

Turing BI review and build prices

These are the current published GBP service bands. All exclude VAT. Confirm the pricing and scope for your project.

The review fee is credited to a build agreed within 90 days. It is still paid for the review first, so include that initial outlay in your budget. Software licences, connector subscriptions, hosting and any other services outside the written scope need their own allowance.

For a defined build, a fixed quote identifies the deliverables and acceptance checks. For exploratory work, compare the proposed day rate with the estimated days, spending limits and change process. Either arrangement needs a clear description of the reporting result.

What changes a Power BI project quote?

For Sage reporting, inspect the Sage 50 and Sage 200 connection guide. Its downloadable Sage 50 UK example makes the source fields, period rules and reconciliation checks visible. A recurring connector and a teaching CSV import are different scopes.

For inherited reports, the Power BI repair service covers faults such as failed refreshes and incorrect totals. A broad rebuild and a bounded repair need separate estimates.

Budget for software and refresh separately

List the report authors, viewers, workspace type and any capacity requirements before adding software costs. Use Microsoft's current Power BI pricing and our UK licensing guide to check the proposed arrangement.

Also identify connector subscriptions, source-system API access, hosting and the machine or gateway needed for the selected refresh route. Ask whether these are purchased in your accounts and which ongoing operating tasks the support scope covers.

Compare a freelancer and a consultancy on the same scope

Compare named responsibilities rather than assuming that one type of supplier includes more. Ask who builds, who checks the numbers, how absence is covered, and whether you receive the model and operating documentation. A freelancer may work with reviewers; a consultancy may assign one delivery person. The proposal should establish the arrangement.
