Has Microsoft's 2026 Excel/CSV change already hit our reports?
It has if your reports were created with the old upload-an-Excel/CSV-file experience in the Power BI service (not Power BI Desktop). Microsoft's timeline has now passed: new reports of that kind could not be created from 31 May 2026, existing ones stopped refreshing from their source file on 31 July 2026, and from 31 August 2026 their underlying models no longer open. Reports built in Power BI Desktop or with the current Excel and CSV connectors are unaffected. If yours have already gone stale, the Trusted Numbers Review confirms which reports were hit and rebuilds them properly on a governed model with a supported refresh.
