Fix a Slow Power BI Report (UK)

A report that takes an age to open, or a refresh that runs into the afternoon, quietly kills adoption: people stop opening it, and the spreadsheet creeps back. The cause is rarely the charts. It's the shape of the model underneath, a handful of expensive measures, or a refresh doing far more work than it needs to. All three are fixable, usually without a rebuild.

Yes. Turing BI fixes slow Power BI reports. Slowness almost always lives in the model, the DAX or the refresh, not the visuals, so we measure where the time goes, fix what's dragging, and prove the speed-up on your own report, at a fixed price.

01Why it matters

Slow reports get treated as a capacity problem (buy more Premium, wait longer) when the main culprit is usually a model importing everything, DAX that recalculates the world on every click, or a refresh with no incremental loading. Paying for more capacity to run an inefficient model is the most expensive way to stay slow.

What you get

  • Reports that open and respond like they should
  • Faster refreshes on your current schedule
  • Measured improvement on your own report
  • A documented, faster report your team owns

Performance audit

We measure open, interaction and refresh timings so the fix targets the measured bottleneck.

Model & DAX fixes

Star-schema corrections, slimmed tables, and measures rewritten so visuals respond instead of grinding.

Refresh & gateway tuning

Incremental refresh, query folding and gateway configuration so refreshes finish in minutes, not hours.

Before-and-after, measured

We benchmark your report before touching it and re-measure after. You see the difference on your own screens, not a claim.

02How we work
01

Measure

Baseline timings on the report and refresh, and a diagnosis of where the time goes.

02

Fix

Model, DAX and refresh corrections on a fixed scope, keeping what already works.

03

Prove

Re-measure against the baseline, document what changed, and hand the report back to you.

03FAQ
Why is my Power BI report so slow?

The usual suspects, roughly in order: a model that imports far more data than the report uses, DAX measures that recalculate expensively on every interaction, too many visuals competing on one page, and refreshes that reload everything instead of only what changed. The audit tells you which of these is yours, with timings, not opinions.

Do we need to buy more capacity to make it fast?

Model and DAX improvements are usually the first and most cost-effective route. We measure the bottleneck before recommending capacity, and show you the evidence when the workload genuinely needs more.

Will you rebuild the report from scratch?

Usually no. The visuals and layout are typically fine. It's what's underneath that needs surgery. We keep the work that's good, fix the model and measures, and your team sees the same report, faster.

What does it cost?

Fixed price, agreed in writing after the review names the bottleneck. Like all our work, the review fee is credited if you go ahead with the fix.
